In my opinion, Mayor Pat Taylor is a mayor’s mayor. As the Mayor of Franklin, I have worked with Mayor Pat on mutual projects-- specifically in the fight to keep our hospitals and to receive additional services. We went to Raleigh to plead our case to the Attorney General’s office. We received concessions from AG Stein for our towns. We also worked with the independent monitors to make sure our towns receive fair treatment the sale of our hospitals to HCA.
Franklin and Highlands have come together on other matters thanks to Mayor Pat. I call him several times a week for his advice and ideas. He has been a strong supporter of the League of Municipalities and has taken advantage of the many School of Government courses for municipal government.
He has worked with me in the NC Mayor Association and the Region A Council of Government.
We have worked together about the problem with big trucks between our towns on Highway 64 through the gorge. Mayor Pat took the lead. I followed.
I have found him to be open to any idea which improves life-- not only in Franklin and Highlands-- but all of Macon County.
It is my hope that the residents of Highlands will reelect Mayor Pat. He is a true professional who puts his town’s residents first. It is a pleasure to work alongside him.
